About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, build, operate and evolve local data platforms
  • Drive advanced analytics and data-driven decision making
  • Lead the design, build, operation and optimisation of enterprise-scale data platforms on Microsoft Azure
  • Deliver high-quality data engineering solutions and project milestones within agreed timelines and scope
  • Ensure effective platform operations, lifecycle management and service reliability
  • Resolve production issues and service requests in a timely manner
  • Maintain data loads and platform performance in line with defined SLAs
  • Ensure accurate data reconciliation and validation across source systems
  • Optimise ETL/ELT processes, performance and storage costs
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, Data Engineers and business stakeholders
  • Champion engineering best practices, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the team
  • Define data strategy and strengthen governance and security
  • Partner with business and technology teams to unlock the value of data

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years' experience in Data Engineering or Data Warehousing roles designing scalable, resilient data solutions
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure SQL
  • Proven experience designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and integration solutions
  • Strong understanding of modern data engineering principles, Lakehouse architecture and data lifecycle management
  • Expertise in SQL, data modelling, performance tuning and database optimisation
  • Experience with data quality, validation, monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Strong development skills in Python, PySpark and/or Scala
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, privacy and compliance frameworks
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git and Azure DevOps
  • Experience with data ingestion frameworks and event-driven architectures
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Microservices and APIs
  • Experience within Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) environments is highly regarded
  • Microsoft Certifications
