About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Investigating & dispositioning alerts generated by the AML transaction monitoring system, providing clear, accurate & evidence-based rationale for each decision
- Applying a risk-based approach to assess customer activity, transaction patterns & relevant ML/TF risk factors
- Conducting thorough investigations into potentially suspicious transactions & customer activity
- Reviewing relevant customer information, including KYC, expected activity, transaction history, counterparties & source of funds where applicable
- Documenting clear, concise & evidence-based analysis outcomes
- Escalating matters of concern to the Regulatory Reporting team where appropriate
- Addressing feedback & remediation actions from Quality Assurance & First Line Monitoring
- Supporting the testing implementation of new transaction monitoring rules & system enhancements
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen processes & operational efficiency
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2 - 4 years’ experience in transaction monitoring within banking / financial services industry
- Strong critical-thinking skills & understanding of transaction monitoring & suspicious activity investigations
- Demonstrated ability to apply a risk-based approach, including assessing customer & transactional risk & determining the appropriate depth of investigation
- Knowledge of Suspicious Matter Reporting requirements
- The ability to identify red flags from typologies
- Familiarity with relevant banking codes of practice & other legislation including Privacy act
- Excellent attention to detail, demonstrable analytical skills & a high level of discretion
- The ability to manage competing priorities & plan own work effectively & efficiently
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Experience in RiskShield/ Pega or similar workflow tools used highly regarded.
