About the role

  • Manage development of O/S projects from ideation through approval including but not limited to competitive analysis, benchmarking, product brief creation, ingredient selection, shade proposals, submission tracking and timeline management
  • Ideate with PD and Packaging on new concepts
  • Work closely with labs to create blue-sky concepts and present back to PD and Packaging Team
  • Exploration of new ingredient stories and PODs
  • Travel onsite for development and approvals
  • Participate and lead discussions in weekly PD strategy meetings
  • Participate and lead in quarterly dream sessions
  • Evaluate submissions and provide timely feedback to vendors
  • Build and maintain product data sheets from concept to product launch stage
  • Lead Trend Forecasting and present data to internal teams
  • Oversee maintenance and updating of all standards and benchmarks
  • Evaluate all batch submissions and support finished goods approvals
  • Organized tracking of all submissions, standards, and approvals. Organized PD storage. Send timely feedback on lab submissions and production batches
  • Build and maintain effective and strong relationships with contract manufacturers and 3rd party vendors
  • Create development timelines including all essential creative and execution milestones
  • Support consumer and clinical testing along with copy substantiation
  • Manage stability testing samples and deadlines
  • Support weekly vendor and NPD status on behalf of PD
  • Lead product education sessions for all new launches for internal teams
  • Collaborate with Packaging Team through all stages of product development
  • Work with Marketing to build product copy and go-to-market materials
  • Work with Sales to build education materials
  • Work with Regulatory & Legal for all claims and name approvals
  • PD support for cross-functional teams (ie photoshoots, education material, customer service questions, etc)
  • Evaluate root cause analysis with quality complaints
  • Help address social and customer service questions related to product
  • Spearhead all internal formula and shade testing and model testing
  • Organized tracking of all feedback and development stages
  • Managing and communicating status of all projects during weekly cross-functional meetings
  • Oversee comp requests and tracker for internal team and retailer meetings
  • Work with Marketing to prepare pricing analysis and recommendations
  • Attend industry trade shows and vendor presentations. Present to internal team. Provide competitive and trend insights to the PD team and cross functionally
  • Partner with Packaging team to assist in component development
  • Managing product inventory for PD Team
  • Manage the PD rooms, retains and product trays

Requirements

  • 4+ years' relevant work experience within product development
  • Being passionate about beauty is an understatement
  • Innovation mindset. Not afraid to push the boundaries.
  • Strong eye for color and ability to communicate with chemists
  • Understanding of timely execution to maintain launch timelines
  • Excellent work ethic, with the ability to be a self-starter and manage up
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, resourceful, and adept at prioritizing and working on multiple projects at once to meet timelines
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, often-changing collaborative environment and ability to pivot when needed
  • Leads with respect and empathy

  • Hardworking and willingness to help others
  • Domestic & international travel required
  • Makeup artist or beauty advisor experience is a plus
  • Cosmetic chemist or contract manufacturer experience is a plus
