About the role

  • Own creation and cohesion of visual styles and components for burgeoning design system
  • Measure usability with team experts and customers to validate design decisions
  • Draft wireframes, storyboards, and prototypes for desktop and mobile web apps
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to deliver intuitive, seamless user experiences
  • Contribute to and maintain design system styles and libraries in Figma
  • Deliver user experience consistency between platforms and viewport sizes
  • Diverge from design patterns deliberately and with conviction when it's best for customers
  • Solicit reactions, requirements and recommendations from team experts and customers to improve how our UI looks & works
  • Challenge & improve the practice of Design with prevailing patterns, trends, and AI techniques
  • Document design and implementation decisions to maximize visibility, coherence, and actionability

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or applicable discipline
  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer with a portfolio showcasing work for web applications and mobile apps, especially complex visuospatial user interfaces, digital maps and time series
  • Proficiency with Figma components, libraries, variables, and design systems
  • Familiarity with AI-aided prototyping
  • Discerning application of usability and accessibility principles
  • Proficiency with user research and design validation, e.g. surveys and usability testing
  • Capable problem-solver, attention to detail, anticipate questions & compromises
  • Communicate succinctly to build consensus while capable to present & elaborate design decisions for large audiences
