About the role

  • Bring technical expertise to automation engineering, coding, and architecture challenges
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure on GCP
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment processes (GitHub Actions or GitLab ideal)
  • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform
  • Partner closely with developers, data engineers, and product teams to understand and shape platform requirements
  • Create self-service tools and frameworks that enhance developer productivity
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools like Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana
  • Optimise system performance and ensure high availability through effective scaling strategies
  • Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventative measures
  • Embed security considerations early in the development process (Shift Left approach)
  • Ensure platform security through IAM policies, VPC design, and proper data encryption practices
  • Monitor and address vulnerabilities and security risks within the platform
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies

Requirements

  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Go, or Bash
  • Knowledge of TypeScript/JavaScript would be a benefit
  • Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or in a similar role
  • Strong expertise in GCP services - including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform, Pulumi)
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or ArgoCD
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes, including networking (e.g. Istio, Traefik)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Stackdriver, Prometheus, or Grafana
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and best practices

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills
