About the role

  • We are seeking a Quantum Compiler Engineer for our Broomfield, CO location. Quantinuum believes that employees work better, more efficiently and more collaboratively in close proximity to other employees, where ideas can be exchanged readily, and decisions can be made more quickly for the benefit of the Company and our customers. All employees should work at their assigned location; however, this role may offer the opportunity to work remotely 2 days per week, with approvals. Our compiler team is at the forefront of bridging the gap between groundbreaking quantum applications and the unparalleled computing power of quantum machines. As a Quantum Compiler Test and Performance Engineer, you are invited to join an interdisciplinary team of physicists and software developers dedicated to transforming platform agnostic quantum algorithms into concrete, executable instructions tailored for our state-of-the-art trapped-ion quantum computers. In this role, you will engage in pioneering work, collaborating closely with compiler specialists to forge user-friendly languages and tools designed for crafting quantum programs. Your expertise will be instrumental in advancing the development of sophisticated heuristics and algorithms. These innovations are critical for optimizing the routing of ions across complex topologies, significantly enhancing the speed and efficiency of quantum applications executed on our platforms. You'll have the opportunity to contribute across the compiler stack including front-end language tooling, mid-level optimization passes, and hardware-aware backends, with a special focus on performance, correctness, and robustness. This is an opportunity to own non-trivial compiler innovations, experiment with heuristics and approximation strategies, and influence how quantum programs scale.
