About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a senior/lead transmission planning engineer supporting utilities within WECC
- Provide technical direction and establish technical philosophy for the organization
- Apply NERC/FERC guidelines and serve as an industry expert recognized by clients and peers
- Run Steady State and Transient Stability studies
- Simulate and analyze client transmission and generation system performance under normal and emergency operations
- Generate System Impact Studies and Transmission Service Requests
- Lead projects by assigning and reviewing work and mentoring less experienced consultant engineers
- Delegate, plan, prioritize, and review consultant work
- Justify strategy and analysis recommendations through documentation and data
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Minimum of 5 years engineering experience
- Experience running Steady State and Transient Stability studies
- Knowledge of power system analysis and modeling techniques
- Experience using PSLF software
- Experience with transmission planning for utilities in the Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC)
- Familiarity with load flow software such as TARA, PSSE, PSLF, and/or PowerWorld
- Familiarity with generating System Impact Studies and Transmission Service Requests
- Strong analytical and computer skills
- Strong written and verbal skills
