About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and develop utility substation Protection & Control engineering design packages
- Develop protective relaying and communications systems packages, including one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, control house layouts, wiring/connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications, and bills of materials
- Develop SCADA packages, including input/output lists (Point Data Sheets)
- Coordinate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings, and other groups to ensure design concurrence
- Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and less experienced engineers
- Maintain trusted relationships with current or prospective clients
- Present technical solutions to key customers and respond to technical concerns and questions
- Participate in client meetings and job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data
- Perform assignments independently with general direction and guidance from the Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer on unusual or complex projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a power systems focus
- An MS Degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the BS Engineering degree
- International Engineering Degrees will be considered
- 3+ years of experience developing complete utility substation P&C engineering design packages
- Experience with AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications, and bills of material
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) License
- Desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Desire for continuing education and licenses
- Physical design experience in addition to Protection & Control (P&C) experience is a plus
