About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist engineers with the design and layout of electrical substations for utility and industrial clients.
- Support the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Perform basic engineering calculations under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Assist with developing bills of material, equipment specifications, and construction support documents.
- Participate in design reviews and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes.
- Attend project meetings and, when applicable, accompany engineers on client site visits.
- Learn and apply industry standards, company procedures, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while developing technical and professional skills.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Rising junior or senior student with coursework in power systems preferred.
- Interest in electric utility engineering, including substations, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications; experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to real-world engineering projects.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites, as needed, is preferred.
