About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform daily field coordination with civil construction crews to evaluate and determine right-of-way (ROW) access design, layout and constructability.
- Assure and oversee access construction activities and contractors (e.g. road building, matting, tree clearing, drilling, etc.) to ensure adequacy of access, and overall coordination of work both on and off the utility ROW.
- Assure adherence to client Standards for Access Construction.
- Participate in management reviews of access contractors.
- Review and verify access contractors weekly work progress.
- Provide technical support with electronic data collection, data management, and presentation to support access construction, as needed.
- Utilize GPS to locate previously surveyed natural resources, archaeological sites, and access routes and demarcate with field flagging for impact avoidance.
- Work coordination, including “look-aheads” of transmission line access construction.
- Perform safety audits and inspections of construction contractors and assigned work (documentation to be provided by VT Transco).
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in electric transmission infrastructure construction, or similar.
- Knowledge of utility ROW access construction, including road materials, drainage considerations, impact avoidance and use of construction matting.
- Knowledge of general civil design and earthwork techniques, including drilling.
- Knowledge of safe work practices associated with transmission line access construction.
- Knowledge of erosion control and site stabilization practices.
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and regulations and requirements (OSHA) for electric transmission infrastructure construction, or similar.
