About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Research permit requirements based on job type and agency
  • Research property appraiser sites, county GIS, legal documents, plats, easements, and right-of-way dimensions
  • Draw and draft permit sketches adhering to agency-specific requirements
  • Work with Design Engineers on overhead and underground fiber and electric distribution projects
  • Prepare CAD drawings showing client work, agency right-of-way boundaries, existing underground utilities, and measurements from utilities to the work zone
  • Communicate with client Permit Coordinators to secure agency approval and coordinate corrections
  • Submit required documents to client servers and document repositories
  • Track and update permitting requirements
  • Attend regular training sessions to maintain design proficiency
  • Promote a safe work environment and follow safety procedures, including tailboard meetings and vehicle safety inspections when applicable
  • Stay current on client guideline changes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years of experience coordinating with clients, permit authorities, and internal teams to ensure timely approval of permit drawings
  • Knowledge of Right of Way, Easements, road ownership, property boundaries, and related legal concepts
  • Proficiency in computer-aided drafting (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, or similar programs
  • Experience in document management and submission processes, including using client servers and repositories
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to track and manage multiple permitting requirements simultaneously
  • Conscientiousness and attention to detail for producing clean, concise, and accurate permit drawings
