About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support advisory, engineering, engineer-procure (EP), and engineer-procure-construct (EPC) projects involving high-voltage electrical substations, transmission lines, telecommunications, renewable energy, electric utilities, and large-load industrial projects
- Coordinate project scope, schedule, cost/budget, quality, communications, resources, procurement, and risk activities
- Work with senior project managers, engineers, designers, and subcontractors to coordinate project documents and drawings and ensure schedules are met
- Support project scope, budget, scheduling, and change control throughout the project lifecycle
- Support procurement and construction activities, including managing site construction managers and procurement teams
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with external business partners
- Support proposal development, including scope definition, cost estimating, schedule creation, and vendor quote evaluation
- Coordinate conceptual design plans for large-load, renewable-energy, and battery-storage projects involving utility and non-grid connections
- Coordinate environmental permitting and land rights with clients, agencies, and staff
- Assist senior staff with competitive bidding for steel structures, long-lead electrical equipment, and substation construction
- Participate in mentorship, internal process improvements, and development of project control systems and standards
- Prepare and maintain project schedules and coordinate schedule impacts with team members and clients
- Track budgets, prepare project status reports, and conduct team/client meetings
- Keep senior staff informed of project status and report to clients, agencies, and team members; facilitate recurring meetings and issue meeting notes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Entry-level knowledge of everything involved in completing a project design from start to finish
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering preferred; Electrical or Civil Engineering preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in heavy industrial-scale electrical projects, including substation and transmission design or a related technical area
- Strong competence in applying theories and principles involved in project management
- Strong work ethic, common-sense approach, and high attention to detail
- Customer-focused, with the ability to work under pressure and manage shifting priorities
- Excellent computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Proficiency with scheduling; MS Project or Primavera P6 preferred
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and demands
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check satisfactory to Qualus
- Occasional travel, including 1–2 trips per month with overnight stays, required
