About the role
- Provide technical support to the Sentinel Combined Test Force (CTF) Lead Developmental Test & Evaluation Organization (LDTO) in developmental test and evaluation (DT&E) activities for Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) missile systems.
- Support Sentinel developmental test efforts to assess performance against stated program requirements.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary government and contractor team to plan, test, analyze, and report through multiple program acquisition phases.
- Lead and mentor junior team members as assigned.
- Support periodic reviews of integrated test results and test plan status; participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and Integrated Test Teams (ITTs).
- Provide technical support and advocate integrated engineering approaches for test activities lacking existing guidelines.
- Serve as a test team participant in development of Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP), System Test Plan (STP), Developmental Test (DT) Report, IOT&E readiness recommendations, and other technical documents.
- Develop and execute radiation transport and effects modeling using industry-standard software (MCNP, SIRE2, THTK, NuGET, PSPICE, Matlab/Python, etc.).
- Prepare input files and perform verification and validation on modeling results.
- Perform parametric studies and sensitivity analyses to assess design parameter impacts on Nuclear Hardness and Survivability requirements.
- Develop and maintain scripts and tools for automated model generation, data processing, and analysis.
- Troubleshoot modeling issues and propose solutions.
- Assist in review of NH&S analysis reports, including radiation environment assessments, system response, and vulnerability assessments.
- Verify analysis of NH&S related test reports and summarize key findings and conclusions.
- Attend NH&S related meetings, take detailed notes, prepare presentation materials and visual aids, and present technical data clearly.
- Conduct literature reviews and summarize relevant NH&S research.
- Provide technical support to other mission threads as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering (experience may be substituted for education with customer approval).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance to start and eventually a Top Secret clearance.
- Software proficiency: MCNP, Matlab/Python, SIRE2, THTK, NuGET, PSPICE.
- Understanding of Radiation Effects: radiation transport, radiation interactions with matter, and radiation effects on material/electrical components.
- Data analysis skills: proficiency in data analysis techniques, statistical methods, and data visualization tools.
- Technical writing and communication skills for reports, presentations, and meetings.
- Ability to work timely, efficiently, and produce acceptable quality work.
- Strong cooperation and teamwork; customer relations and rapport-building skills.
- Ability to work independently or within a group, unsupervised when required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
- Desired: Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering.
- Desired: Familiarity with test & evaluation planning and DoD acquisition directives and policies.
- Desired: Familiarity with ICBM weapon systems and related subsystems/equipment and testing methods.
- Desired: Familiarity with flight test data analysis/evaluation, modeling and simulation, and technical report preparation.
- Desired: Previous work experience in a Lead Developmental Test and Evaluation Organization (LDTO) or operational Test Organization (OTO) environment.
- Desired: Ability to work within Air Force Test Center procedures, DoD regulations, and guidelines.
- Desired: Ability to quickly understand customer technical objectives and provide effective solutions.
