About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor and manage the docket of judicial cases, especially those involving disputes with beneficiaries and suppliers;
- Track procedural deadlines and coordinate legal strategies with external law firms;
- Monitor strategic indicators and report regularly to management;
- Participate in preparing the budget for the relevant case portfolio;
- Define defense strategies and lead actions in strategic or high financial-impact cases;
- Negotiate judicial and extrajudicial settlements to reduce the company's liabilities;
- Negotiate timelines and strategies with client operators' legal teams;
- Assess risks associated with judicial and administrative claims and propose preventive actions to mitigate them;
- Ensure continuous updating and monitoring of the case portfolio, maintaining the integrity of the legal department's financial and accounting controls;
- Prepare litigation management reports and metrics;
- Provide legal advice to other company areas, especially operations, commercial, and compliance teams;
- Respond promptly to the needs and processes of areas that interface with Legal;
- Manage the portfolio of relevant cases (high value, high legal/financial risk, or strategic/reputational impact), defining defense strategy case-by-case together with external counsel;
- Perform individualized risk analyses and classify loss probability (probable, possible, remote) for relevant cases, supporting the company’s accounting provisions in accordance with applicable standards (CPC 25/IFRS);
- Prepare reports and presentations on the portfolio of relevant cases for the board of directors;
- Monitor individually the procedural progress, judicial guarantees (deposits, surety bond, bank guarantee) and critical deadlines of cases with the greatest financial or reputational exposure;
- Work together with specialized law firms in the handling of strategic or high-impact (“bet-the-company”) cases;
- Assess reputational risks associated with relevant cases, coordinating with Communications and Compliance when necessary;
- Lead negotiations for complex, high-value settlements involving executive management, Finance and Compliance.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completed law degree with active registration with the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB);
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office;
- Advanced knowledge of sector-specific legislation, especially regulations from the National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) and supplementary health;
- Proven experience handling high-value, high-risk, or strategically relevant litigation;
- Knowledge of accounting standards applicable to contingencies and provisions (CPC 25);
- Experience interacting directly with executive management and audit/compliance areas.
- **Differentials:**
- Postgraduate degree in Corporate Law, Health Law, or Civil Procedure;
- Experience with mass litigation/high-volume disputes;
- Participation in risk or legal contingency committees.
