About the role
- Creating and maintaining CAD models, drawings, data sheets, bills of materials and supporting documentation
- Supporting the Design Support, Mechanical Design, and Technical Documentation Teams with data management, change actions, CAD modelling, Technical Documentation, CAD system support and other tasks as necessary
- Ensuring the smooth running of the Design Support section and Design & Development Department as a whole
- Production and maintenance of CAD models, detail drawings, Bills of Materials and related documentation
- PLM System data entry and maintenance relating to the Department’s operation
- Maintain documentation, database records, work log, project logs and related records
- Implement changes and update related CAD models, drawings, and documentation for current products
- Liaise with Production / Design / Technical departments to establish drawing and documentation creation and modification requirements
- Assist in the design of the mechanical elements appropriate to the development of Group products
- Assist in the integration of mechanical, electrical, and electronic designs into the CAD modelling system
- Troubleshoot, investigate, and solve problems with CAD models and related data
- Create and maintain documentation relating to processes used in the Department
Requirements
- Creo Parametric (or similar 3D CAD system) for 2D drawing and 3D model creation
- Experience in using a PLM or PDM system for CAD model, drawings and documentation control (PTC Windchill preferred)
- AutoCAD / AutoCAD LT
- MS Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Experience in a similar role in an electro-mechanical design environment
- Comprehensive Mechanical Detail Draughting experience, including compliance with relevant standards
- Experience of completing Engineering Changes within a controlled document system
- Knowledge of and experience in detail design of mechanical components (especially sheet metal and turned parts), with knowledge of standard industry production methods
- CAD System administration experience
- General IT literacy and knowledge with an interest in learning more
- Experience of creating Exploded view drawings and technical illustrations
- Electrical engineering knowledge with experience of circuit diagrams and wiring looms
