About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee management of large-scale construction and infrastructure project budgets from inception to completion
  • Lead and mentor the onsite cost team and ensure adherence to cost control processes
  • Create and validate project budgets and monitor financial performance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Review construction contract documents and evaluate, approve, document, and communicate change orders
  • Manage internal change-order approval workflows according to delegation of authority protocols
  • Analyze contractors’ requests, cost forecasts, cash flow projections, monthly progress payments, and variance reports
  • Reconcile actual expenditures against project budgets and provide actionable insights to senior leadership
  • Lead and review procurement processes and ensure vendor and subcontractor contracts align with project budgets and terms
  • Monitor buyout savings and assess financial risks from subcontractor performance
  • Serve as primary financial liaison among project teams, contractors, subcontractors, finance, and external consultants
  • Facilitate meetings concerning financial performance, risks, and change-order status
  • Prepare cost reports, cash flow analyses, monthly financial reviews, and projections
  • Support the finance team with the monthly loan draw process and required documentation
  • Assess and mitigate cost-related risks and ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and contract terms
  • Lead internal training and mentorship initiatives and share cost-management best practices
  • Manage third-party cost auditing teams and consultants

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, financing, or accounting; or relevant professional experience
  • Ten or more years of experience in cost control, construction, or project management with prior experience in a senior or leadership role
  • Deep expertise in construction contract documents, change management, and budget control processes
  • Advanced proficiency in financial and project management software, such as Workday, e-Builder, Procore, and Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Proven ability to provide detailed and accurate financial forecasts, track project costs, and manage budgets through all stages of a project lifecycle
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and present recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders
  • Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, CCP, or similar are a plus
  • Three or more years of experience in a leadership or management role
  • Advanced knowledge of industry-specific regulations and best practices in cost control
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing teams, fostering collaboration, and driving performance improvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and third-party consultants
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making capabilities in fast paced environment
