Provide leadership, direction, and coordination of operational activities within the team, focusing on driving change and optimizing service delivery
Oversee the management of accounting and reconciliation processes for both onshore and offshore operations to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and continuity of operation
Provide expertise in financial and statutory reporting, high-level business analysis, and ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of capital reporting requirements
Maintain accurate accounting records following internal procedures and statutory requirements to ensure compliance
Provide support for timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and adherence to policies and procedures
Supervise the creation and approval of financial reports ensuring quality and accuracy
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally
Analyse and adjust regulatory reports to meet internal and external requirements
Provide visible leadership, effective communication and feedback to the team
Manage resources and capacity for financial accounting and operations reporting processes efficiently
Drive process improvement and efficiency gains
Contribute to the overall strategy and planning to meet business targets
Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Certifications as an accountant
A moderate level of relevant experience
Extensive financial experience in the insurance industry with increasing levels of responsibility
Proven experience in a financial control role or similar with demonstrated financial literacy
Continuous professional development in line with professional accounting body requirements
Dealing with people at all levels of the organisation to be credible to senior management
More than some finance experience in a similar size and geographically spread organisation
Experience in using Oracle Hyperion Financial Management tool is an advantage
Experience in Financial and Statutory Reporting, Accounting, Taxation and audit firm is advantageous
People management experience, preferably in Accounts Payable, T&E and Payments
Experience working on a global team, preferably in a Shared Service background
General ledger experience in a corporate accounting or shared services function
Experience in BPO/Shared Services with a strong understanding of Accounting concepts
Senior level roles in Financial reporting in a global Insurance or Finance Services organisation with supervisory or management experience
