About the role

  • Develop and lead QAD's FinOps practice to drive cost optimization and financial accountability across cloud operations
  • Subscription gross margin analysis, modelling, and monitoring including hosting, customer support and cloud operations spend
  • Program manage VCP workstream migrating hosting/providers to a single modern multi-tenant platform and lead financial planning of efficiency actions
  • Develop and maintain a five year financial model for cloud hosting costs and subscription margins; model expected margin improvements and monitor results
  • Lead FinOps strategy: develop, implement, and manage policies, processes, and best practices
  • Actively monitor cloud hosting costs daily to identify anomalies and recommend cost reductions
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Create and maintain dashboards and reports to provide actionable cloud spend insights for engineering, finance, and leadership
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, finance, and procurement on budgeting, forecasting, and embedding FinOps into SDLC
  • Establish resource governance: tagging, naming conventions, and accurate cost allocation
  • Evaluate and implement FinOps tooling and automation (e.g., CloudZero)
  • Champion FinOps best practices through training and guidance
  • Work with cloud provider account teams to leverage discounts, reserved instances, and other cost-saving programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
  • Graduate program (MBA, MIB or Masters) and additional certifications (CFA, CPA, CMA) are a plus
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or other relevant cloud certifications highly desirable
  • 5+ years of experience in a FinOps, Cloud Financial Management, or similar role
  • Deep understanding of one or more major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their pricing models
  • Fluency in FinOps and cloud management tools like CloudZero
  • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must work/reside in the Eastern or Central time zone in the U.S.
