About the role
- Develop, implement, and regularly review H&S policies, procedures, and practices to ensure a safe working environment
- Champion and embed a safety-first culture across all teams, promoting open communication and hazard reporting
- Manage internal H&S systems and audit frameworks for Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental accreditations
- Conduct site inspections, document findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Lead and minute H&S meetings, track actions, and ensure follow-up
- Stay up to date with legislation, embedding regulatory changes into company policies and procedures
- Collaborate with Heads of Department to ensure equipment and systems are maintained, serviced, and compliant
- Support tenders and client requests with HSQE documentation and reporting
- Investigate workplace incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Deliver monthly KPI and performance reports to the Board
- Design and oversee structured H&S training and toolbox talks, ensuring consistent record keeping
- Mentor and coach colleagues in safety, quality, and environmental awareness
- Develop emergency response plans and lead drills across the organisation
Requirements
- Proven experience in Health & Safety management within a high-risk industry (construction or manufacturing preferred)
- Strong knowledge of UK H&S, Environmental, and Quality legislation and compliance frameworks
- Experience managing audits, accreditations, and risk assessments
- Qualified to NEBOSH or IOSH standard (essential)
- Excellent planning, organisation, and attention to detail
- Calm, pragmatic problem-solver who can perform under pressure
- Confident communicator able to influence, engage, and inspire at all levels
- Positive, proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to sites as required
