About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct prompt, thorough, and objective investigations of employee and third-party complaints, including interviewing relevant parties/stakeholders, reviewing documents, analyzing employee data, and preparing oral and written reports as requested by internal Employment Law counsel.
- Counsel assigned clients on employment law issues that arise in the day-to-day management of those areas/businesses and provide proactive guidance to ensure compliance with various laws and regulations that affect the Company’s business processes including, but not limited to, recruitment, performance management, reductions in force, accommodations, restrictive covenants, compensation practices, employee engagement and retention, artificial intelligence and employment background checks/drug testing.
- Partner with Employee Relations to maintain employment policies in compliance with applicable state and federal laws.
- Assist with the employment and labor legal alerts process and conduct special projects, as needed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- J.D. degree and at least 5 years’ experience performing employment law investigations and advising on employment & labor law issues and matters.
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge of US Federal and State/local employment laws.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and investigative skills, with the ability to apply those skills to a wide range of business and corporate settings.
- High level of initiative and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Strong MS Office skills and demonstrated proficiency in the use of artificial intelligence.
- Ability to interface effectively with employees at all levels.
- Experience advising on Employment Law artificial intelligence is preferred.
- Must be admitted to practice law in New Jersey or another U.S. state.
