About the role
- Support Tax, Pricing, and Valuation Reporting Team reconciling, reporting, and analyzing Bond & Equity security positions and transactions using the PAM Investment sub-ledger system and the General Ledger (Oracle).
- Accountable for the application of accounting rules and practices as appropriate for the various portfolios.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP & STAT reports, including subledger to ledger proofs, monthly market value reconciliation, quarterly MD&A supplemental schedules, quarterly cashflows for Fixed Maturities/Trading Assets/Equity at Fair Value/Short-Term Bonds, annual GAAP surveys and footnote disclosures, and Statutory Schedules D, DA and E with interrogatories and notes to financials.
- Prepare General Ledger entries monthly for GAAP Market Value adjustments.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for Asset and Income accounts and perform GAAP to STAT balance sheet reconciliation.
- Research issues related to accounting entries and the subledger investment system.
- Document procedures for any new reporting requirements.
- Complete various ad-hoc requests from internal clients and gather information for internal and external audits.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in the MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge of Oracle General Ledger is a plus.
- Knowledge of investment accounting and of various investments instruments.
- High level of self-motivation and dedication.
