About the role

  • Support Tax, Pricing, and Valuation Reporting Team reconciling, reporting, and analyzing Bond & Equity security positions and transactions using the PAM Investment sub-ledger system and the General Ledger (Oracle).
  • Accountable for the application of accounting rules and practices as appropriate for the various portfolios.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP & STAT reports, including subledger to ledger proofs, monthly market value reconciliation, quarterly MD&A supplemental schedules, quarterly cashflows for Fixed Maturities/Trading Assets/Equity at Fair Value/Short-Term Bonds, annual GAAP surveys and footnote disclosures, and Statutory Schedules D, DA and E with interrogatories and notes to financials.
  • Prepare General Ledger entries monthly for GAAP Market Value adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for Asset and Income accounts and perform GAAP to STAT balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Research issues related to accounting entries and the subledger investment system.
  • Document procedures for any new reporting requirements.
  • Complete various ad-hoc requests from internal clients and gather information for internal and external audits.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of Oracle General Ledger is a plus.
  • Knowledge of investment accounting and of various investments instruments.
  • High level of self-motivation and dedication.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Client focused and results oriented work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and work as a member of the team.
  • Ability to work overtime during peak periods.
  • Prior background / internship experience in investment management or financial services Industry is strongly preferred.
