About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Enforce all State of Utah, Provo City, and Utah County laws

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Law Enforcement Officer Certificate by Utah State Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)
Candidates can apply with out-of-state certification but most obtain Utah POST certification at time of hire
Must be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States who has been in the United States legally for 5 years and has legal authorization to work in the United States
A valid, lawful Driver License
Lateral transfers may be brought in at the Police Officer II, Senior Police Officer, or Master Police Officer level depending on qualifications
Police Officer II - requires a minimum of two years of law enforcement experience equivalent to the level of a Provo City Police Officer 1
Senior Police Officer - requires a minimum of 3 years of law enforcement experience as a Provo Police Officer II OR 5 years of comparable experience as a law enforcement officer
Must also obtain either POST Advanced Officer Training or Provo P.D. Advanced Officer course (or approved equivalent) and have special team assignment experience
Master Police Officer - requires a minimum of nine years of law enforcement experience
