About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager of Trauma Services, performs a variety of duties essential to maintaining the Trauma Registry as mandated by the Department of Health.
  • Responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Trauma Registry by coding and abstracting the clinical and demographic data from patient records.
  • The Trauma Registrar displays the ability to work independently and with the team.
  • Assumes accountability for all work performed.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Coursework/Training: Medical terminology. Or Knowledge of Medical terminology.
  • Coursework/Training: Human anatomy.
  • 1 year Healthcare or related setting.
  • 1 year Medical record abstracting and/or coding.
  • 1 year Medical registry or 2+ years working in a healthcare-related field.
  • 1 year Injury severity coding and reimbursement coding.
  • Coursework/Training: Medical coding
  • Upon hire: Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR)
