About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own discrete product areas end-to-end, from problem framing through shipped, validated experience
  • Design AI-powered intelligence layers, including model outputs, confidence scoring, human-in-the-loop review, and explainability
  • Design human-AI collaboration experiences for pathologists interpreting, trusting, overriding, and acting on AI-generated insights
  • Lead user research through observation, interviews, and usability testing
  • Own empathy maps, user personas, and journey maps
  • Design storyboards, process flows, sitemaps, UI mockups, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs
  • Generate graphical elements, icon sets, illustrations, onboarding graphics, and data visualization styling
  • Contribute to the Proscia design system
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and scientists to translate user insights and AI/ML capabilities into design solutions
  • Design with awareness of compliance frameworks for regulated medical device software
  • Participate in human factors and usability testing as needed
  • Infuse AI into the design process to improve user experiences, workflows, execution speed, and product quality
  • Occasionally support marketing and sales with visuals for decks, one-pagers, websites, and event materials

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Product or UI/UX Designer
  • Required experience designing AI or ML-driven product experiences
  • Experience surfacing model confidence, explaining outputs, supporting human-in-the-loop review, and calibrating user trust in automated systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design software such as Figma
  • Portfolio showing strong end-to-end product craft
  • Visual design sensibility beyond standard UI work, including typography, layout, and illustration or iconography
  • Prior experience or coursework in graphic design, illustration, or visual/brand design
  • Experience designing web applications, ideally for professional use
  • Experience contributing to, maintaining, and scaling shared design-system component libraries
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain design decisions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with regulated medical device software and familiarity with IEC 62366 and FDA usability guidance is a plus, not required
  • Knowledge of scientific, healthcare, or laboratory workflows is a plus
  • Comfort in Illustrator or Photoshop for occasional supporting assets is a plus
