About the role

  • Manage files related to litigated insurance claims
  • Draft legal documents and opinions
  • Negotiate settlements
  • Obtain statutory declarations from insured parties or third parties
  • Process access-to-information requests related to claims files
  • Conduct case law and doctrinal/legal research to support legal arguments
  • Provide support to various department stakeholders
  • Provide recommendations to mutual insurance companies
  • Participate in the preparation of legal training sessions and conferences for mutual insurance companies
  • Perform any other related duties

Requirements

  • Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent)
  • Member of the Quebec Bar
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in civil law and litigation
  • Experience in insurance law (an asset)
