About the role
- Drive the exploration and development of AI and machine learning models to streamline how individuals facing financial difficulty receive and interact with public services.
- Experiment with, train, fine-tune, and prompt AI systems ranging from traditional ML models to LLMs to power internal and external applications.
- Work on OCR, document understanding, document classification, and building generalist models for real-world use cases.
- Source from leading AI vendors, open-source models, and fine-tuned solutions and apply them to use cases impacting millions of people.
- Improve performance, efficiency, and automation across the platform to shape the future of government services and deliver social impact.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Engineering department in a hybrid work environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant statistical analysis experience.
- 5+ years of professional machine learning experience (e.g., modeling, hyperparameter tuning, feature engineering, model validation).
- 1+ years of experience with deep learning and LLMs (hands-on projects, fine-tuning, or applied usage).
- Formal experience training and evaluating models for classification/regression tasks (ROC AUC, Precision, Recall, F1 score).
- Exposure to key tools and frameworks such as PyTorch, MLFlow, LightGBM, or related.
- Experience with OCR, document understanding, and document classification (mentioned as areas of work).
- A rigorous, detail-oriented approach to problem solving.
