About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Code complex surgical procedures across multiple specialties
- Interpret operative notes and procedural documentation
- Code provider office and hospital charges for all departments supported by professional billing
- Code complex surgical services, procedures and evaluation and management services
- Ensure compliance with official coding guidelines and payor standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to pass internal coding test
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding
- 3 years of physician/professional complex surgical and E&M coding experience in a health care system or medical office setting
- Complex surgical coding experience including OB/Gyn, Gastrointestinal, Neurology, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Cardiothoracic, Urology, ENT, Plastic Surgery and General Surgery
- CPC, CCS-P, RHIT or RHIA certification required
- Knowledge of the professional billing revenue cycle process preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Epic and other coding applications preferred
