About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The RN, School Nurse provides direct care to students in a school setting.
  • The care includes treating injuries, acute illness, chronic disease management and long-term management for students with special health care needs.
  • You will act as a liaison between school personnel, family, health care professionals and the community through communication.
  • In this role, you will screen for health conditions and health problems as required.
  • You will also be responsible for health care education of students, parents, teachers and other school personnel.
  • This is a leadership role in which you will lead health policies and programs, health promotion and protections and chronic disease management.
  • The role also requires coordination of school health programs, school wellness policies, mental health protection and intervention and more.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college
  • 2 years of experience in nursing is preferred, preferably in pediatric, school health or public health nursing
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Ohio
  • Must be registered and licensed with the Ohio Department of Education and pass the required background check before starting
  • Valid driver’s license
