About the role

  • Provide day-to-day guidance to representatives from Progress’ global Human resources (HR) organization and other business leaders on a variety of employment topics including hiring, terminations, performance management, wage and hour, leaves of absence, compensation, and benefits
  • Lead employment law aspects of due diligence and integration to support Progress’ M&A activity
  • Counsel and organize trainings relating to workplace harassment and discrimination, best risk management practices for the PT, etc.
  • Work closely with HR business partners to advise and assist with investigations and regular inquiries on employment related matters
  • Partner with the HR relating to employee relations, reductions-in-force, and all other legal aspects of the employment life-cycle
  • Support employment-related litigation, including overseeing and managing outside counsel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service, leveraging an established network of outside counsel and effectively negotiating the resolution of adverse matters
  • Review and enhance employee policies, procedures, handbooks, and training to ensure compliance with international employment and labor laws
  • Partner with the HR and Finance teams regarding employment related compliance matters, such as wage and hour issues, leaves of absence and ADA
  • Provide support for other matters as determined from time to time

Requirements

  • J.D. with excellent academic credentials
  • Experience in either M&A due diligence and integration and/or international employment
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, correct and concise written and oral advice in a business context
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of legal matters and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new or unfamiliar challenges or areas of responsibility
  • Ability to form strong working relationships with internal clients while maintaining firm adherence to proper legal standards
  • Strong sense of integrity and appreciation for confidentiality issues
  • Excellent business acumen
  • Admission to state bar
  • Sense of humor required
