About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide direction and guidance throughout the life of the claim
Direct the management of claims including investigation, coverage analysis, monitoring defense counsel activities, control of legal expenses, reserving, and providing technical expertise
Participate in review processes to evaluate coverage, liability, causation, damages, case value, reserves, and manage total claims cost
Collaborate with defense counsel regarding case value, defense tactics, and strategies
Responsible for preparing reports for management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing claim information
Represent the Company through attendance at trials, settlement conferences, mediations, and insured meetings
Review and approve reasonable legal expenses and fees associated with the claim file and negotiate adjustment of charges when appropriate
Recommend resolution strategies and participate in settlement negotiations when appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree required
Advanced degree or certification in the medical, legal, or insurance field preferred
Minimum two years’ experience in the legal, medical, or insurance field
Professional liability experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
Strong analytical skills
Proven leadership, communication, and writing skills
Strong interpersonal and relationship management expertise
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to learn new computer software applications
Valid driver’s license required
