About the role
- Collaborate with Client’s storage and backup support teams and onsite Resident Experts to create and manage project plans for backup and data integrity activities
- Track tasks and deliverables across multiple backup and continuity-related workstreams and provide routine status reporting and documentation
- Implement and enforce Client-defined data retention standards and policies, support data lifecycle management, and align storage allocations with SLAs
- Establish and maintain grandfather-father-son (GFS) backup strategies and rotation schedules
- Define alarm thresholds, ensure alarm routing, maintain policies related to data integrity, retention, and restoration, and monitor/tune backup software performance
- Conduct and document software and regression tests on backup and data protection platforms; support version control and perform code upgrades per Client policies
- Monitor data movement and replication across systems and geographies; support Business Resumption Planning and perform regular data integrity validations
- Monitor disk space utilization, respond to failed backups/recovery/replication errors, assist in disaster recovery testing or invocations, and maintain accurate logs and documentation
- Monitor backup software logs and storage infrastructure health, respond to performance alerts, resolve integrity-related incidents, and perform host-level onboarding tasks
- Maintain current configuration documentation and knowledge of business continuity and disaster recovery plans; support DR invocation or test events within contracted support hours
Requirements
- Public Trust Clearance
- 5+ years of experience managing enterprise data backup and recovery solutions
- Proven experience with data integrity management, GFS strategies, and continuity planning
- Familiarity with federal IT environments, SLAs, and compliance standards
- Strong understanding of backup and storage software (e.g., Cohesity, Commvault, Veeam)
- Experience in scripting/automation of backup operations (PowerShell, Python preferred)
- Certifications (Preferred): Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent; Vendor certifications (e.g., Cohesity Certified, Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE), Commvault Certified); CompTIA Security+ or DoD 8570-compliant equivalent; ITIL v4 Foundation
