About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain a robust financial control framework across the business
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, internal policies, and healthcare-specific regulatory requirements
  • Develop and monitor financial policies and procedures
  • Oversee balance sheet integrity, reconciliations, and control accounts
  • Manage and improve month-end and year-end close processes
  • Lead accurate and timely monthly management accounts and board reporting packs
  • Analyse variances against budgets, forecasts, and prior-year performance
  • Support the CFO with Board, lender, and private equity investor reports and presentations
  • Coordinate annual budgeting, reforecasting, and cash flow forecasting
  • Provide analysis for strategic and operational decision-making
  • Improve working capital management, debtor collections, and creditor management
  • Support treasury activities and covenant reporting
  • Lead statutory accounts preparation and coordinate the external audit
  • Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, and banking partners
  • Ensure timely VAT, Corporation Tax, and other regulatory submissions
  • Support investor reporting, acquisition integration, due diligence, and value creation initiatives
  • Produce financial information for transformation and growth projects
  • Drive initiatives improving EBITDA, cash generation, and operational efficiency
  • Lead finance systems development, optimisation, automation, and data-driven reporting
  • Lead, coach, and develop the finance team
  • Build relationships with operational and clinical leaders
  • Act as a trusted deputy to the CFO when required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audits
  • Previous Financial Controller, Head of Finance, or Senior Finance Manager experience
  • Experience within a private equity-backed, multi-site, or high-growth business
  • Strong financial controls and reporting background
  • Experience managing and developing finance teams
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills
  • Healthcare, social care, community health, specialist services, or related sector experience desirable
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and integration activities desirable
  • Experience with covenant reporting and lender relationships desirable
  • Strong leadership and people management capability
  • Excellent attention to detail and financial accuracy
  • Commercial astuteness and ability to influence stakeholders
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Proactive, resilient, and results-oriented
