About the role
- Perform critical vulnerability patching on Cisco Switches, Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, Meraki Access Points, Meraki Switches, Meraki Firewalls, Cisco ASAs, Palo Alto Firewalls
- Implement optional patches to resolve any bugs or software impacting events
- Perform multiple Move/Add/Change/Deletes for the above referenced products
- Attend daily meetings with clients when necessary to review high priority issues and provide/accept guidance on issues affecting their internal infrastructure
- Provide feedback to management on process improvements and areas of concern
- Be available while on-shift through several different venues – Instant Messaging, phone, emails and any new and acceptable methods of communication as deemed appropriate
- Carry out testing of new features and functionality as required and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment, configuration and affected problems and track vendor support cases through to problem resolution on production issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent work experience and/or military experience
- 5-8 years’ experience in a similar role with prior experience performing multiple Move/Add/Change/Delete functions within a single client environment across multiple verticals.
- Deep knowledge of routing, switching and network security concepts and technologies.
- Network Engineers will have or work towards industry standard certifications, including: CCNP, PCNSE, CMNA
- Strong interpersonal skills and expert level relationship management abilities – showcasing the ability to work well with many levels of client engineering and management
- Ability to multi-task and maintain complex operational processes handle and escalate highly impacting operational issues to upper Management and/or 3rd party vendor escalation.
