About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Produce innovative solutions and thought leadership publications/patents from exploratory analysis of complex, high-dimensional datasets
Apply statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to discover patterns and opportunities
Design, develop, and evaluate methodologies and advanced algorithms for clinically and operationally relevant analytics
Deploy healthcare datasets including electronic health records, administrative billing, and post-adjudicated claims
Work with subject matter experts, academic institutions, members, and product engineers to translate prototypes into products, services, and features
Identify novel methodologies and AI/ML approaches to improve healthcare-system quality and efficiency
Provide leadership and implementation guidelines for large-scale product development
Serve as a subject matter expert across business domains including Cost, Clinical, and MDM
Participate in data exploration and conceptual design for strategic initiatives
Generate and test hypotheses and interpret product experiment results
Lead requirements-gathering meetings with business/customers and IT teams
Analyze business requirements and problems, design solutions, and make recommendations
Translate user needs into clinically meaningful methodologies and products
Develop features and stories for product backlogs
Generate peer-reviewed publications and patent submissions
Present innovative work at conferences and symposiums
Provide data science advice, demonstrations, and presentations to colleagues, clients, and management
Provide mentoring and training
Develop project estimates and work plans, and evolve data operations best practices and processes
Review team-member deliverables

Requirements

What you’ll need

10 or more years of applicable experience
Bachelor’s degree required
Strong business and healthcare analytics experience
Strong statistics, simulation, and advanced mathematics experience
Data search and matching experience
Experience facilitating requirements gathering and analysis with customers
Excellent writing and speaking skills
SQL and data modeling skills
Healthcare research experience with large patient datasets
Software design and development experience
AI and machine learning experience
Proven track record publishing as first or lead author in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
Experience submitting patent applications
Customer engagement, collaboration, and conflict-management experience
Experience teaching in a related domain in a university setting
Master’s degree preferred
Ability to remain stationary for prolonged periods and perform sedentary work
Ability to adapt, change priorities quickly, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
Ability to operate computer programs and software
Ability to communicate effectively in person and electronically
Ability to make independent decisions
Ability to work collaboratively in a business environment
Travel 1–20% within the US
