About the role
- Hire, mentor, coach, and lead a team of mobile engineers delivering iOS and Android applications built with React Native, aligned to both short‑ and long‑term business goals.
- Own delivery and operational excellence for consumer‑facing and internal mobile applications, with accountability for reliability, performance, security, and user experience.
- Guide the team across the full mobile application lifecycle, from ideation and design through development, testing, release, and ongoing support.
- Mature Mobile DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, secure code scanning, and app store release automation.
- Champion modern mobile engineering practices such as component‑based architecture, automated testing, configuration as code, and consistent release processes to improve quality and time to market.
- Lead with a strong customer focus, ensuring mobile experiences are intuitive, accessible, performant, and aligned to user needs across platforms.
- Drive data-driven culture using mobile telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, and operational metrics.
- Partner closely with Product, UX, Solution Architecture, Security, Platform, and Operations teams to align priorities and deliver outcomes.
- Identify and execute technical priorities including platform upgrades, dependency management, OS compatibility, and technical debt reduction.
- Act as a technical and business leader, contributing to vendor selection, RFPs, and vendor management related to mobile platforms and tooling.
- Ensure adherence to Premera’s Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Agile practices, and engineering standards, with a strong emphasis on security, privacy, and compliance.
- This role does not require day‑to‑day coding but does require strong technical depth to guide and step into a sprint to unblock the team with pull request reviews, comments, suggestions and helping reach delivery, and own engineering decisions.
