About the role
- Independently provide data and perform actuarial calculations related to product development, benefits, provider reimbursement, stop loss, health management, disease management, pharmacy programs, premium rates, reserves, and administrative costs.
- Monitor data from internal departments, review it for content and accuracy, and identify associated problems.
- Produce various analytical reports that monitor utilization and cost trends, revenue, claims liability, membership, administrative costs, and provider reimbursement and performance as requested by both internal and external customers.
- Develop and maintain computer programs to support various analyses, processes, and reports.
- Consult with internal and external customers to assess scope and complexity of projects.
- Complete projects accurately and efficiently, within preset timelines, and regularly report status to supervisor and outcomes to customer.
- Prepare written documentation on all projects to provide a peer review trail and ensure continuity and integrity of position responsibilities.
- Present findings as needed to multiple levels of internal and client leadership.
- May assist in the training of entry level analysts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field, or (4) years of work experience.
- (2) years of actuarial analysis experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools.
- Knowledge of Python or another computer language.
- Knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms.
- Experience in health insurance and/or an actuarial department.
- Proficient in Tableau and visual storytelling.
- Experienced in automation of codes and procedures.
- Participant in an actuarial student program.
- Strong project management to include time management and multi-tasking.
- Proficiency in a computer programming language and aptitude to learn from others.
- Proficient with standard Microsoft Office products.
- Strong analytic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills - can explain trends in data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
