About the role
- Responsible for the clear articulation of the visual brand
- Responsible for communicating all enhancements and nuances of the brand to the clients and team members
- Ensure all elements of the brand are working in harmony in a consistent way
- Provide informed, thoughtful art direction for self-created work or work by team members
- Partner with a writer to develop compelling creative concepts
- Review existing materials, gather appropriate in-house resources, and identify further research needs to begin a project
- Evaluate others' work based on core criteria: on brand, on strategy, clear/compelling/stylish, extendable across a brand
- Seek out and art direct photographers, illustrators, and other suppliers to produce high-quality work for clients
- Develop comprehensive shot lists and get buy-in from internal team and clients
- Direct on-site video and photo shoots and review post-production with accuracy and details
- Present to and communicate with clients; articulate design vision and offer strategic rationale
- Explain deliberate tone differentiation from competition
- Inform AT/PM team when inadequate information exists for parts of an ask
- Build strong relationships with other agency team members and clients
- Work with team members to find solutions to challenging problems
- Take time to work with direct reports on improvement areas and teach them to leverage inherent assets
- Incorporate ideas and make revisions in response to feedback; offer well-reasoned critiques
- Understand product, category and competition to contribute to strategic discussion
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of brand narrative, key messages and data and communicate internally and to clients
- Engage in strategic conversations with clients and represent creative team with senior agency representatives
- Participate in new business development opportunities and assume a role in new business pitches
- Develop sound understanding of agency experience and full range of agency capabilities
- Be clear and consistent in direction and a role model in work ethic and dependability
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and or art/design/portfolio school, strong portfolio
- 7 years design related experience in advertising or marketing agency
- Healthcare Industry/Medical Field, preferred
- Advanced conceptual ability with sophisticated design sense
- Knowledge of Mac OS platform
- Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Photoshop
- Proficiency of Microsoft Office (notably PowerPoint and Word)
- Proficiency of pre-press production
- Proficiency with communication/documentation platforms such as ProofHQ, Workfront, etc.
- Experience directing on-site video and photo shoots and art directing photographers/illustrators/suppliers
- Ability to present to and communicate with clients without supervision
- Strong team interaction and management skills, delivering constructive feedback and mentoring direct reports
- Ability to engage in strategic conversations and represent creative team in agency leadership and new business pitches
