About the role
- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to drive payments, adoption and attach rates across all vertical software platforms
- Identify and prioritize payments opportunities within each vertical to maximize revenue, improve customer retention, and expand product value
- Lead competitive analyses, pricing strategies, and market positioning for payments offerings
- Own payment conversion metrics, including attach rate, active merchant growth, processing volume, and monetization
- Partner with Product and Engineering to define product requirements, improve payments workflows, and ensure frictionless onboarding
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success to develop playbooks, incentives, training, and resources that drive integrated payments adoption
- Oversee merchant activation processes, optimizing funnel conversion from pre-qualification through approval and activation
- Work with Marketing to create messaging, campaigns, and collateral that effectively position integrated payments within each vertical
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Underwriting teams to ensure safe and efficient onboarding while maintaining a strong risk posture
- Coordinate with Operations and Support teams to streamline merchant support and maintain exceptional customer experience
- Use data-driven insights to identify adoption barriers, segment opportunities, and refine growth strategies
- Track KPIs, create dashboards, and present performance updates to executive leadership
- Conduct A/B tests and evaluate workflow improvements to continuously optimize merchant conversion and payment utilization
- Serve as the primary liaison with payment processors, gateways, and other payment ecosystem partners
- Evaluate new methodologies, fintech innovations, and partnership opportunities to expand the payments roadmap
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in payments, fintech, SaaS, or vertical market software organizations
- Proven success driving payments adoption or leading embedded payments programs
- Strong understanding of payments operations, underwriting, risk, and compliance
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence without authority
- Data-driven approach with strong analytical and business modeling skills
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management abilities
