About the role
- Design and implement scalable Digital Twin methodologies for unit operations (Chemical Reactors) and process lines that can be replicated across multiple manufacturing sites and product technologies.
- Build and validate process line and unit operation models using Aspen Engineering Suite, ensuring accuracy and relevance to real-world operations.
- Develop simplified and reduced order mixing models for unit operations and apply existing mixing models created by the team to support process design and optimization.
- Collaborate with plant operations teams, engineering groups, and R&D to ensure alignment between modeling outputs and operational needs.
- Analyze results, summarize findings, coordinate and communicate with manufacturing managers and site leadership to report progress, share insights, and align on priorities.
- Prepare and deliver clear, data-driven reports and presentations to inform partners both technical and non-technical, including leadership, engineering, and operations.
- Contribute to the development of standardized modeling methodologies and best practices for use across global sites and product platforms.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of experience in Process Modeling for Chemical Reactors
- Alternatively, a MS in Chemical Engineering with 1+ year of hands-on experience with Chemical Reactor modeling for real-world applications
- Proficient in Computational Fluid Dynamic modeling applications such as Aspen of Hysen
- Understanding of liquid polymer manufacturing which ideally would include paints/coatings or similar
- Experience developing process models for chemical manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with mixing models and their application in unit operation design
- Experience communicating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical decision makers and team members
- Experience with statistical tools such as JMP to analyze data
- Basic skills in using commercial computational software packages i.e. Siemens Star-CCM+, M-Star CFD, COMSOL, ANSYS Fluent CFD, or similar and applicable coding skills
