Generator Field Technician – Commercial, LV/MV Electrical, Power Distribution, Mechanical, Microgrid, Data Center
PowerSecure, Inc.Field Technician responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of generators and power distribution equipment at PowerSecure. Provides technical support to customers and performs preventative maintenance service.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment
- Provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects.
- Daily travel with independent work structure
- Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call.
- Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments
- Battery installations and replacements
- Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled
- Customer contact and interface
- Communicate availability status to corporate office
- Protect company proprietary information, manuals, and records
- Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary
- Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary
- Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition
- Ensure that work is performed to PSS standards
- Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately
- Provide technical support to customers upon request
- Maintain Technical documentation for study and/or review
- Willing and able to attend training as company deems necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum Qualifications for Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+
- Proficient Level III Technician requires six years of field experience servicing generator systems with extensive experience on 500KW+
- Proficient with preventative maintenance, paralleling switch gear, ATS repairs, controller retrofits and Loadbanking equipment
- Level IV Technician requires ten years of field experience servicing generator systems of all sizes and applications
- Expert in preventative maintenance, paralleling switch gear, retrofitting advanced controls and Loadbanking equipment
- All Candidates need a High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Expert in major engine repairs, able to diagnose a wide variety on various applications
- Experienced with Volvo and PSI engines
- Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems, able to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction
- Must observe all safety standards.
- Mentor Mid to High level techs as requested.
