About the role

  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment
  • Provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects
  • Daily travel with independent work structure
  • Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call
  • Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments
  • Battery installations and replacements
  • Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled
  • Customer contact and interface
  • Communicate availability status to corporate office
  • Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary
  • Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary
  • Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately

Requirements

  • Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+
  • Proficient with preventative maintenance, retrofitting basic controls, minor ATS repairs and loadbanking equipment
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, related military experience or equivalent field experience
  • Ability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming and replacing failed engine components
  • Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction
  • Ability to read and decipher electronic schematics and troubleshoot discreet mechanical and electronic systems to the component level
  • Experience with advanced generator and electric system controls including Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment
  • Knowledge of technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures
  • Basic mathematical concepts
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
