About the role
- Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment
- Provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects
- Daily travel with independent work structure
- Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call
- Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments
- Battery installations and replacements
- Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled
- Customer contact and interface
- Communicate availability status to corporate office
- Use of electronic and electrical test equipment as necessary
- Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary
- Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately
Requirements
- Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems with some experience on 500kw+
- Proficient with preventative maintenance, retrofitting basic controls, minor ATS repairs and loadbanking equipment
- High School diploma or GED equivalent, related military experience or equivalent field experience
- Ability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming and replacing failed engine components
- Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction
- Ability to read and decipher electronic schematics and troubleshoot discreet mechanical and electronic systems to the component level
- Experience with advanced generator and electric system controls including Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment
- Knowledge of technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures
- Basic mathematical concepts
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
