About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with the Executive Director and executive team to set organization-wide strategy
  • Develop and execute a multi-year philanthropic growth strategy spanning corporate, foundation, and individual giving
  • Use fundraising data, pipeline analysis, and historical performance to manage revenue, set targets, prioritize opportunities, allocate resources, and course-correct
  • Develop strategies to engage and acquire new donors and funders
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, board members, foundations, and corporate funders, including high five- and six-figure gifts and grants
  • Serve on the Board’s Development Committee and act as a strategic partner to the Executive Director
  • Expand the individual giving program through major donor cultivation, appeals, and creative donor engagement
  • Champion ethical storytelling centered on the lived experiences of the families One Family serves
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing three-person development team
  • Champion a culture of philanthropy across the organization, aligning development work with One Family’s mission and values

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated experience leading a development function at the Director, Senior Director, or equivalent level—or comparable scope, ownership, and results, even without the formal title
  • A quantifiable track record of personally driving significant philanthropic revenue growth over multiple years, with clear ownership of a development function and its results
  • Success in securing high five- and six-figure gifts and grants across individual, foundation, and corporate giving
  • Comfort using data and owning reporting: pipeline analysis, revenue forecasting, and fundraising dashboards to guide strategy and board reporting
  • Proven success both acquiring new donors and funders and retaining, renewing, and expanding existing relationships, with the ability to quantify revenue growth driven over multiple years
  • Experience recruiting, developing, retaining, and strengthening a high-performing development team, with clear expectations and accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to represent an organization across diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Genuine motivation by One Family’s mission and ability to translate that mission into compelling fundraising and donor engagement
  • Candidates in the Greater Boston area able to meet with donors in Boston regularly
