About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the team providing financial reporting processes for insurance companies across PoloWorks, providing leadership and technical guidance
- Lead remediation and process redesign with internal and external stakeholders
- Review financial results for non-Lloyd’s clients
- Oversee regulatory and statutory financial reporting integrity and delivery
- Manage financial compliance
- Support onboarding of new clients, accounting policies, documentation, controls, and issue resolution
- Prepare Board and Audit Committee papers and attend meetings when required
- Review and improve financial controls
- Liaise with external auditors and support relevant internal audit reviews
- Manage tax return data requests
- Manage preparation, interpretation, maintenance, and application of accounting policies under current accounting standards
- Advise clients on new accounting standards and prepare technical papers
- Lead finance projects, including IT financial systems development
- Oversee team work while resolving detailed issues with clients
- Train and develop the team in insurance-related skills
- Work with the Head of Client Finance and learning and development team to address skills gaps and strengthen team knowledge
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience within the insurance industry, ideally in a financial reporting environment
- Strong knowledge of insurance accounting and regulatory reporting requirements
- Proven experience leading and developing teams
- Experience driving change, improving processes, and implementing controls
- Ability to build credibility and influence senior internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Confident decision-maker with a proactive approach
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Collaborative leadership style with a commitment to developing others
- High levels of integrity and professional judgement
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
