About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the scientific and technical integrity of Pollination’s Carbon & Nature Projects portfolio across Asia Pacific
  • Provide technical governance and formal sign-off across portfolio investment stage-gates
  • Support Investment Committee decision-making
  • Own verification readiness for priority projects, including monitoring reports, carbon models, QA/QC, SOPs, evidence packs and VVB engagement
  • Ensure alignment with evolving carbon standards and methodologies
  • Hold technical responsibility for projects progressing through feasibility, FID, registration and development across Southeast Asia and Australia
  • Develop and deploy standardised carbon modelling architecture, templates and checklists
  • Design and implement a geospatial platform and analysis protocol
  • Formalise QA/QC and uncertainty protocols
  • Drive digital MRV integration
  • Develop technical due diligence standards for investment stage-gates and capital investment strategy
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop the Science & Technical Services team
  • Design and deliver internal and external technical training
  • Take primary carriage of technical due diligence for capital raises and investor engagement
  • Engage with standards bodies, registries and third-party validation/verification bodies
  • Integrate technical inputs into financial models, investment papers and origination materials
  • Represent Pollination’s technical credibility externally with corporate buyers, offtake counterparties and standards bodies
  • Partner with investment, legal, commercial and origination teams to align assumptions and de-risk execution
  • Contribute to methodology innovation and cross-business technical knowledge-sharing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in environmental science, forestry, geospatial science, geography, carbon accounting or a related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in carbon project development, GHG quantification or land-sector project delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership of technical teams
  • Deep expertise across carbon methodologies including ARR, REDD+, IFM and WRC
  • Expertise in major standards and frameworks including VCS, Gold Standard, ACCU Scheme and JCM
  • Experience leading and developing technical staff, including performance management and structured capability-building
  • Experience engaging standards bodies, registries and third-party auditors/VVBs at a senior level
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Experience preparing PDDs, monitoring reports and verification packages
  • Project management skills and experience
  • Experience supporting Investment Committee processes and capital raising, including investor technical due diligence
  • Ability to operate across interdisciplinary teams and diverse geographies in a matrixed capacity
  • Ability to operate with enterprise-level thinking about platform risk and technical governance
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-scaling environment
  • Experience with remote sensing and geospatial platforms such as QGIS, Google Earth Engine, spatial SQL, Python and cloud-native processing is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with biodiversity and natural capital accounting frameworks is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with scripting or data analysis tools such as Python, JavaScript and R is highly desirable
  • Experience translating carbon and nature project data into investment decision-making materials is highly desirable
  • Experience with fundraising for carbon projects is highly desirable
  • Must possess the Right to Work in Australia, or Singapore as relevant
