About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the effective operation of the National Secretary’s Office by coordinating key deliverables, workstreams, and organisational priorities.
  • Focus on tracking, coordination, and delivery assurance, ensuring National Council and National Board decisions are translated into action.
  • Act as a key interface between the National Secretary, Executive Team, and wider organisation, driving accountability and ensuring that priorities are clearly defined and executed.
  • Interpret high-level direction from the National Secretary, identify delivery pathways, and ensure outcomes across complex, multi-functional workstreams.
  • Drive organisational accountability by supporting the National Secretary to ensure actions agreed at National Board and National Council are owned and delivered.
  • Act as a trusted liaison between the National Secretary and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
  • Liaise with National Board, National Council, and Branch representatives, ensuring continuity and professionalism.
  • Draft high-quality briefing papers, reports, correspondence, and presentations on behalf of the National Secretary.
  • Create and provide reporting that identifies organisational trends and performance issues to support decision-making.
  • Oversee the collection and timeliness of Directors’ updates and support summary reporting.
  • Coordinate and support National Council and National Board meetings, ensuring effective communication of outcomes.
  • Work closely with the National Secretary’s Personal Assistant and key stakeholders to operate effectively and communicate relevant matters.
  • Produce dashboards, trackers, and progress reports for clear insight into progress and performance.
  • Co-ordinate delivery of the 7-Point Plan and provide appeals process support when required.
  • Support cross-team coordination.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience), and/or demonstrable relevant experience in a project coordination, executive support or programme delivery role.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting senior leadership (Executive / National Board level), with exposure to strategic planning and organisational priorities.
  • Understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Proven experience supporting the delivery of complex, multi-workstream projects in a coordination or administrative capacity.
  • Experience of driving delivery through others (without direct line management), including holding stakeholders to account for actions and deadlines.
  • Experience of monitoring project plans, tracking progress, and maintaining project documentation.
  • Demonstrable experience of organising meetings, preparing reports, and managing project communications.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook), to include project tracking tools and analysis, data manipulation, reporting in Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly.
  • Experience of engaging with and influencing a range of stakeholders, external and internal, with the ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, acting as an effective liaison and representative when required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
  • Competent in data analysis and reporting to highlight insights, themes and making recommendations, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information sensitively.
  • Highly proactive, with strong follow-through and accountability focus.
  • Demonstrates effective use of digital tools, including AI-enabled technologies, to support analysis, tracking, document drafting, and process efficiency.
  • Project Management qualifications, such as PRINCE2 (Desirable).
  • Experience working in a membership organisation (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of police force rules, regulations and operations model (Desirable).
