About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, coach, and develop SRE engineers; set goals, drive accountability, and foster ownership and excellence
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align technology and business objectives
  • Support talent development, performance management, and succession planning
  • Encourage innovation, continuous learning, and DevOps/SRE best practices
  • Participate in an on-call leadership rotation for critical production services, major incidents, and high-severity customer-impacting events
  • Lead end-to-end response for major P1/P2 incidents, including triage, diagnostics, troubleshooting, remediation, restoration, communication, and post-incident reporting
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex production issues across applications, Linux/Windows infrastructure, Oracle and SQL databases, middleware, and integrations
  • Oversee log, metric, system, batch, and ETL monitoring and recovery processes
  • Lead root cause analysis and problem management for major and recurring incidents
  • Drive permanent fixes, systemic improvements, trend identification, and risk reduction
  • Promote knowledge sharing through runbooks, knowledge articles, and error catalogs
  • Manage development projects, development teams, and application support functions
  • Oversee application programming and analysis projects, including development, installation, and maintenance
  • Monitor adherence to quality standards
  • Maximize staff contribution through professional growth and development
  • Analyze applications to ensure systems meet business needs and specifications

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University / college degree typically required; Education listed as Bachelors
  • 5+ years of industry-relevant experience typically required
  • At least 3 years of prior management experience typically required
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience, including military service, may be considered
  • Knowledge of application development, business management, customer solutions, design, group problem solving, process improvements, release management, software solutions, and User Experience (UX) design
  • Competencies in Agile Development, Application Delivery Process, Application Development Tools, Coaching Others, Design Thinking, IT Environment, Software Process Improvement (SPI), and System Testing
  • Availability for after-hours operational leadership and on-call support, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required
  • No required certifications

  • No required or preferred language assessments
  • Must not require employment visa sponsorship; PNC will not provide sponsorship or participate in STEM OPT
  • Subject to Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act and, for registered roles, SAFE Act and/or FINRA requirements regarding certain criminal history
