About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Evaluate, respond to, and mitigate alerts from the SIEM and cybersecurity product suite, including IDS/IPS
Tune SIEM events to reduce false positives
Improve network visibility through extensive testing
Provide operational support for the institution as a representative of the security organization
Apply security concepts, review information and logs, execute defined tasks, and create documentation
Perform investigations, data loss prevention, data manipulation, and activity coordination
Address or mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities
Review and define security controls
Advise clients, security administrators, and network operations on complex security procedures and products
Participate in enforcement of controls against security risks and threats
Share knowledge with staff
Conduct security assessments and information security routines
Investigate and recommend corrective actions for data security issues
Develop policies and procedures to standardize security functions and eliminate vulnerabilities and threats
Oversee that business needs are met during development

Requirements

What you’ll need

University/college degree typically required at this level
5+ years of industry-relevant experience
Comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Knowledge of SIEM, IDS/IPS, and cybersecurity products
Subject matter expertise in Intrusion Detection Systems and Intrusion Prevention Systems
Knowledge of access control, information security, network security, packet capture analysis, physical security, risk assessments, and security technologies
Competencies in analytical thinking, effective communications, information assurance, information security management, information security technologies, IT environment, IT standards/procedures/policies, IT systems management, problem solving, and software security assurance
