About the role

  • Define and own the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategy and roadmap, aligning automation capabilities with enterprise infrastructure, network, and platform objectives
  • Establish automation as a service as a formal product offering for Data Center Infrastructure, Data Center Network, and Remote Network teams
  • Serve as a thought leader for infrastructure automation, standardization, and cloud-adjacent practices across on-prem and remote environments
  • Act as product owner for IaC platforms, toolchains, and services, managing backlog, prioritization, and feature delivery based on consumer team needs
  • Define and maintain service catalogs, APIs, modules, and reusable blueprints that enable self-service provisioning and lifecycle management
  • Partner with infrastructure and network stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, automated solutions
  • Lead the design and evolution of automation architectures supporting provisioning, configuration, observability, compliance, and decommissioning
  • Ensure IaC solutions adhere to secure-by-design, policy-as-code, and compliance-as-code principles
  • Drive standardization of patterns, modules, and pipelines across infrastructure domains
  • Lead and develop the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) automation team, setting clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including platform reliability, backlog execution, and operational readiness
  • Establish and monitor SLAs, SLOs, and operational metrics for automation services
  • Ensure automation supports full infrastructure lifecycle management, including onboarding, scaling, change, and retirement
  • Integrate observability and telemetry into automated workflows to enable proactive monitoring and remediation
  • Continuously improve resiliency, scalability, and efficiency of automated platforms
  • Define and enforce IaC standards, guardrails, and governance models
  • Partner with security, risk, and compliance teams to embed controls into automated workflows
  • Ensure change management and auditability are integral to automation processes
  • Collaborate closely with infrastructure engineering, network engineering, security, platform, and operations teams
  • Act as an escalation point and trusted advisor on automation-related design and delivery decisions
  • Influence enterprise roadmaps and architecture forums with automation-driven insights
  • Build a high-performing team culture focused on engineering excellence, automation-first thinking, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor engineers on DevOps, IaC best practices, and modern infrastructure engineering techniques
  • Attract, develop, and retain top automation and infrastructure engineering talent
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging tools, frameworks, and practices in IaC, configuration management, and infrastructure automation
  • Drive continuous improvement through metrics, feedback, and retrospectives
  • Champion automation to reduce operational toil, improve time to value, and increase infrastructure reliability

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred (Master’s preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience in network infrastructure, with 5+ years in a leadership role preferred
  • Proven experience in product management or ownership of network-related solutions
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking (LAN/WAN/WLAN), SD-WAN, cloud networking, and remote access technologies
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic planning skills
  • Experience managing distributed teams and vendor relationships
  • Preferred Skills: Ansible, Python, Terraform
  • Knowledge of GitOps‑style workflows and infrastructure code promotion models
  • Experience automating full infrastructure lifecycle (provisioning, configuration, observability, change, and decommissioning)
  • Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure (compute, storage, virtualization) and how to automate its deployment and configuration
  • Experience with network automation concepts, including fabric deployments, IPAM, DNS, load balancing, and firewall automation
  • Familiarity with APIs and automation of network platforms and remote/branch connectivity solutions
  • Understanding of hybrid environments that span on‑prem data centers and remote network locations
