About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead technical design, development, and enhancement of complex enterprise applications running on IBM z/OS
  • Design and implement scalable, reliable, secure software solutions for complex business requirements
  • Develop and support online and batch processing using COBOL, CICS, and JCL
  • Drive technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems
  • Coordinate coding, testing, debugging, implementation, documentation, maintenance, and production support across the software development lifecycle
  • Analyze, refactor, and modernize large legacy codebases while preserving performance, availability, and functionality
  • Resolve complex production and application issues through root cause analysis and technical problem solving
  • Create and maintain technical and procedural documentation
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, code reviews, design reviews, and best-practice guidance
  • Manage application deployments using Endevor or comparable mainframe source-control and promotion tools
  • Support and monitor batch processing using CA-7 and Control-M
  • Apply modern software engineering principles and development practices to improve system capabilities and operational efficiency

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University / college degree; Education listed as Bachelors
  • 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience
  • Comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience, including military service, may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise applications on IBM z/OS
  • Advanced experience with COBOL
  • Strong expertise with CICS
  • Extensive experience with JCL
  • Experience with large, complex legacy applications, including code analysis, refactoring, modernization, and performance optimization
  • Experience with Endevor or similar enterprise source control and deployment solutions
  • Knowledge of CA-7 and Control-M batch scheduling platforms
  • Experience with ACF2 principles, access controls, and regulatory compliance
  • Understanding of z/OS operating system concepts
  • Experience supporting Batch COBOL and CICS COBOL applications
  • Working knowledge of VSAM
  • Experience using TSO/ISPF
  • Proficiency with File-AID
  • Experience utilizing EZTrieve
  • Experience supporting or developing applications within a Hogan mainframe banking environment
  • Mainframe application development experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience with application modernization integrating z/OS with contemporary enterprise technologies
  • Ability to serve as a technical lead across complex application portfolios
  • Experience driving continuous improvement in enterprise mainframe ecosystems
