About the role
- Set the Organisational Engineering Strategy for Pleo, supported by the CTO, and partner with senior leaders across all of Pleo
- Responsible for choosing the right technical solutions for different areas, partnering closely with stakeholders across the business
- Improve tech stack to a best-in-class stack focusing on overall cost, rapid growth enablement and process innovation, improving profitability through efficiency (including democratization of AI)
- Oversee enterprise architecture with an Enterprise Architect reporting to you, connecting third party solutions to internal data and product platforms where appropriate
- Be the competence leader for IT people across the business and specialist engineers helping to select, implement and run technical solutions
- Lead maturation journey towards potential IPO, especially provisioning, onboarding and offboarding through TechOps leader
- Identify emerging technologies and evaluate partnerships to drive growth
- Ensure data security, integrity, and availability adhering to GDPR, ISO27001, SOC2, PCI-DSS and other regulatory requirements
- Nurture and mature a diverse, equitable, inclusive culture that helps all members feel like they belong
Requirements
- Comfortable translating between business needs and technical requirements, and excel at stakeholder management and partnering across the company
- Know what great looks like for a mid-sized company with big ambitions but some constraints in terms of staffing & costs and able to translate that into strategy
- Some experience of preparing a company for IPO and/or experience of the expectations of a public company
- Adept at balancing trade offs when selecting, procuring, implementing and running technical off-the-shelf solutions
- Comfortable taking a mostly “buy”-focused approach, focusing software engineering capacity of the team on integration and configuration rather than heavy customization
- In-depth knowledge of application infrastructure, technical operations including vendor management, and enterprise architecture
- Comfortable in high-pace environments and enjoy complex problem-solving with peers and team
- Experience helping people to achieve their potential as a people manager
- Advantageous: experience integrating generative AI tools into workflows and improving efficiency with AI
